Back where we started

10^th to 11^th October

Today we were going home to DK. 
The day started with oatmeal at Cosí followed by a visit at Starbucks with my roomies. It was the last nice calm morning in Washington DC before the shuttle busses (“Super Shuttle”, and as i called them "Super shopper". It's actually kinda stupid to do that..) took us to the airport, Dulles. The flight home were loooong(er) and hard(er), and the picture underneath describe very much my feelings when we arrived at the Copenhagen Airport. Danish ground, yaay!  

It was very nice to see my family again, but the only thing i could think about was to get some sleep in my own bed as quickly as possible. When i first lay in my bed i slept for 14 hours, had a pause for two hours where I took something to eat, and then slept 4 hours again. Damn I needed that sleep (as you can see)! But even though i got all this sleep I still have jetlag :( And now i have mid-term holiday! Yaay! See you no more :*

Columbus' day!

Today is Columbus' day! But the day started pretty bad :/ We should meet in the lobby at 9:30, sharp! I was almost in time, but then suddenly I just couldn't get my shoes on. I was s much like "ARGH! Don't do this to me!", and that was the reason I, as the only one, came 7 minutes late. Linda wasn't exactly happy about that :( But I survive, shit happens.

The time at the Capitol began with an introduction movie alike, and afterwards we had a tour guide who showed us alot... But then she suddenly said something I find very shitty... She said it was Ronald Regan's fault that the Berlin wall was toured down. OMG! It annoys me that none of us said something to her, because we know almost everything about that wall!! We've even touched it.
But the very worst thing she said was that it was awesome (awesome!!) that the wall was built in one single night. 1. It was not awesome... 2. It was not build in one night. 3. That was a damn bad explanation of the Berlin wall! But anyways. After this visit, we walked to the national museum of the American Indian history, and afterwards the national museum of American history. I loved to see national museum of the American Indian history! But that’s because I've always been interested in the Indians and their style.

Freezing!

Today started pretty nice. There we sat, my roomies and I, in our room, on my double bed, ate Cheerios and saw some Disney channel in English. Much nicer voices than in Danish! 
After this nice morning, we should meet in the lobby 8:30 sharp, because we were going to visit Mount Vernon (George Washington's Estate). But at first we should take the metro to Virginia and there out of Washington DC. It was a looooooooong ride. It almost took forever!! ;) And when we finally arrived at Mount Vernon Estate, it was freezing cold! Damn. I wish so much that I had brought some warmer clothes and not just summer-alike clothes. But I survived (as you can see...)

After the very interesting visit and some cool stories about Mr Washington we took the metro to Pentagon City to shop in a very big mall! Victoria's Secret, Sephora, and Forever 21 etc. was on the list to visit! Yaay. They have been some of my favorite stores since NYC. And ofc I bought alot there, again... I start to fear that my account is about to be empty o; But I refuse to stop! It's USA baby! And I'll sure never come back here again, so I gotta buy some cool stuf! And preferably a lot of it ;) In the end of the shopping in the mall, I talked to a very sweet man. At the very first he saw me, he asked: "Where're you from?", and said that he could see that I'm from DK because of my "deep-blue ocean" eyes. That happend while Kamilla, Anne and Olivia was buying dinner because soon we were going to the cinema to watch "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", which was a very very great move(!!!!!)! I only cried a little (or alot..) i: And I’ll definitely recommend it to all of ya! But you'll probably have to wait a while before it comes to Denmark. 
Finally, I wanna show you a picture of what we (Helena and I) bought in the cinema. Try to compare the sizes with the computers. THEY WERE SO BIIG! Damn..

Check-in

Hi peeps!
After an 1-hour long flight we arrived at the hotel in Washington named Harrington Hotel. Lovely hotel :) It's soo much better than the hostel in New York. Here we got two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fridge, two TVs and much more. And then, once again, we live in the center of the city. Which means we live one block from Zara, H&M, Starbucks (a nice cup of coffee so we don't get tiered of all that shopping) and Forever 21! It's so nice! Love it!
The first thing we did after packing out was walking at The Mall, which is very near our hotel. Afterwards we walked to the Washington Monument, the Reflecting Pool of Lincoln memorial and ofc the Lincoln memorial. The last "museum" we saw today was the White House. Beautiful! And a little scary with the snipers at the roof.
It was very cool to see all these museums, because I have heard and read so much about them.
 Something "fun" happened today, too. We met some danish students from Copenhagen. Some of the boys were pretty cute. And to make good better, they are living at the same hotels as we do.

A new beginning

Hello peeps :p

Before I was writing on the blog: anewcontinenttoexplore.blogspot.dk with AB and Helena when we were in New York. But now I write my own blog, 'cus that was a lot easier.  

I’ll tell you about my trip to Washington DC with the half of my class (the half who have Spanish like me). The other half, those who have French, are in Quebec now. 

Today was the last day in New York. I’m looking pretty much forward to move to Washington DC and live at a real hotel and not just a hostel. I feel, too, that I've seen enough of New York. And the fact that I've spent almost all my money on shopping and nasty deep-fried food does that I'm looking even more forward to move. Or… I've only got fried food the first day here in NYC and at lunch today. 

Another thing is that I’m looking forward to come home to DK because of the ecology and the least expensive food. And the air! I miss the clean(er) Danish air sooooo much. The air over here is itching my throat all over.

But now to the part, where I tell you, what my class and I have been doing all day: We started like any other day here in NYC (at 9:30 am). At first the teachers lead us in the wrong direction. But that was okay, 'cus it was early in the morning ;) And after a bit of studying the map, my teachers found the correct subway to go to, so we could get to El museo del Barrio (The neighborhood’s museum).
When we arrived at the museum, the first you saw in there was a very scary "doll". A doll which should price the dead. But it was after all a very interesting museum with a lot of different artworks; sculptures, paintings, photos, movies etc.. The artworks were all about the Latinos and their history and living. In my Spanish class we have all read a lot about the Latinos, so it was very interesting to see it close in paintings and photographs and experience it in a way with all the sculptures, sounds and impressions (impressions from the artworks ofc).
The guide at the museum was very very sweet, like almost everyone here in NYC. The people over here aren't afraid of saying “you are beautiful” or ask “where have you bought that dress” or something like that at all. And I love the way that they're using the word please in almost every sentence! It’s so polite and kinda cute :) and I think it shows much respect for other people, especially when they say "excuse me please" when they just wanna pass somebody. I like the way that they are saying hello to each other too. Almost everyone here says: “Hello, how are you” where the other typical answer "I'm good thank you. How are you?", where we in DK just say “hi” and act kinda impolite compared to the New Yorkers. I really want to take this politeness with me to DK (if I could....).

Yesterday Petrea, Kristine (from the French part of my class) and I sat on the street and talked with a homeless man who had a sign “I’ll speak with you about anything for free” or something like that. We had passed him a couple of times and Petrea had always wanted to talk with him for fun 'cus he didn't look disgusting or mean at all. And when we sat there at talked to him he said that he hated America and would like to move to DK if he had the chance 'cus here in the U.S. you don’t get an education for free like in DK. Us girls, we think that he was VERY smart and knew a whole lot of things. So if he had the money to be educated, he would probably be pretty successful. But maybe he was too lazy to do that? Hmm. I don't know. All I know is that he was very sweet to talk to :)

Now to something else :) I have spent my day, today, with a whole lot of shopping with Sabrina, Emma, Michelle, Kamilla and Anne. I had a lot of fun with'em. After a little walk in the central park, we were out seeing the building where the kinda live in the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Afterwards we went out shopping. 
At dinnertime we went to the restaurant named Ruby Tuesday where i had this "healthy" salad and the most wonderful non alcoholic drink ever!!! Mmmmmmh. I had like three big glasses because of the free refill. Teehee. 

But it's late now, and I think I’ll go to sleep. We’re heading to Washington tomorrow at 6 am! Baaah :b So early..... Nighty night peeps!
